Quinta do Estanho Superior Colheita 2019

£12.00

Description

The Quinta do Estanho Superior Colheita from 2019 was produced using grapes grown on the steep slopes of the Pinhão River in the Douro Region, North Portugal. The year's weather conditions were stable and conducive to the grapevine cycle, resulting in a harvest without significant setbacks or unexpected events. The winter was dry and cold with lower levels of rainfall, while the Spring was warm and dry except for slightly higher rainfall in April.

The summer months of August and September had favorable temperature ranges for grape ripening, with cool nights balancing out the high temperatures typical of the Douro Region. These conditions led to healthy grapes with no recorded diseases or pests, resulting in red wines with good body, color, and excellent acidity. The alcohol content was slightly lower than the previous year, producing well-balanced wines with smooth and creamy tannins. The grapes were hand-picked and carefully sorted into 20 kg boxes at the ideal point of ripeness.

Tasting Notes

The colour of this wine is an intense ruby shade. Its scent is intricate, containing floral and fruit notes, as well as hints of spices like nutmeg and cloves. The addition of rockrose and mint adds a refreshing element. Upon tasting, the wine's balanced acidity, concentration, and smooth tannins are pleasantly surprising. Its finish is long-lasting and persistent.
